ALEX SKOLNICK To Teach 'Jazz Soloing' At AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF GUITAR
April 3, 2004Acclaimed guitarist Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT, SAVATAGE) will be heading up a "Jazz Soloing Workshop" at the American Institute of Guitar in New York City this spring. According to AIG's web site, Alex will be teaching "essential scales, arpeggios and techniques of jazz soloing. Hands-on with lots of playing. In addition, Alex will focus on practice techniques, finding your own identity on your instrument, overcoming obstacles, developing good habits, setting goals and furthering the enjoyment and progress of playing, listening to and study of music. Techniques can be applied to all styles, and one needn't consider themselves a 'jazz guitarist' to attend, although an openness to jazz is important. A must for anyone wishing to expand their horizons." A placement interview with Alex is required to register for the class. For more information, call (212) 757-3255.
